Premier Blaine Higgs on Covid-19 tip-line: “We have heard from a lot of you”; Province announces one time Covid-19 payment for those who need it.

Premier Blaine Higgs says that since the new toll free line and email was set up on Monday “we have heard from a lot of you”…everything from businesses not following closure orders or distancing policies, and about individuals returning from holidays and not self-isolating, and about house parties and get togethers. Higgs says this type of activity shows “incredibly poor judgement.” The Premier says that the government is willing to shut down a business that isn’t complying with the rules if the conditions warrant.
ICYMI: A toll-free information line and email address, which offers services in both languages, has been set up to help answer non-health related questions, including questions about compliance with the state of emergency. The number, 1-844-462-8387, is operational seven days a week from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The email address is helpaide@gnb.ca. (*Concerns about workplace safety should continue to be directed to WorkSafeNB.)
Also announced during Tuesday’s update: The provincial government will provide a one-time income benefit to either workers or self-employed people in New Brunswick who have lost their job due to the state of emergency. This one-time $900 benefit will be administered through the Red Cross and will help to bridge the time between when people lose their employment or close their business and to when they receive their federal benefit. Furthers details on how to apply will follow in coming days.
